Dedicated to making financial education accessible, engaging, and practical for everyone in Glasgow and beyond
Meta-prairie was founded in 2018 with a straightforward mission: bridge the gap between academic finance knowledge and the practical money skills people actually need in daily life. We noticed that while universities taught complex financial theories, most people struggled with basic budgeting, understanding interest rates, or planning for their future.
Our founder, having spent fifteen years in retail banking, saw firsthand how financial uncertainty affected families across all income levels. This experience shaped our approach: courses that meet people where they are, using language they understand, with exercises they can apply immediately.
Unlike traditional classroom settings where theory dominates, our programmes emphasise hands-on learning. Students work through realistic scenarios, use actual budgeting tools, and leave each session with actionable steps they can implement that same week.
We design our curriculum around three principles:
Financial habits form early. Research shows that money attitudes established in childhood often persist into adulthood. That is why we developed programmes specifically for young learners, helping them build positive relationships with money from the start.
At the same time, adults face increasingly complex financial decisions. From navigating pension options to understanding mortgage products, the financial landscape grows more complicated each year. Our adult programmes address these evolving challenges with up-to-date, practical guidance.
By offering courses across age groups, families can learn together and support each other's financial growth.

Situated on Buchanan Street in the city centre, our teaching facility offers easy access by public transport from across the Greater Glasgow area. The space includes comfortable classrooms, a resource library, and quiet areas for one-to-one consultations.
We chose this location deliberately. Financial education should be convenient and welcoming, not tucked away in an intimidating office block. Families often combine their course visits with a day out in town, making learning part of an enjoyable experience rather than another obligation.
